Not only did he inform us about the ruins but also the plants and the derivation of a few English words. It was apparent that Antonio loves Naples and Pompeii. The place we had a wine tasting and light lunch was a truly beautiful garden. What a way to end our tour. Also the travel arrangements could not have been better. I highly recommend this tour.”

Guides such as Manuel, Miguel, Rita, and Antonio are praised for their warmth and local knowledge.

“A long trip (8h). Quite a lot of sitting in a car, but with stories about the region and it’s history. Douro valley is really beautiful and a must see place if visiting Porto. There was portwine tour and tasting and sparkling wine on the boat trip. Also wine with the food after the boat. So lot of drinking 😁 Honestly only ”problems” about the trip is the lack of general information and guidance. We got to know the order of the day only at the car trip that took more than an hour (would’ve been nice to know so you can prepare bathroom and water vice) It’s always nice…”

8.Régua: Wine tasting at a Quinta, traditional lunch, cruise, and train ride

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 79 reviews

Spend nine hours exploring the Douro from Régua with a local Portuguese or English-speaking guide. Visit a century-old quinta, taste five wines, stop at São Leonardo de Galafura, enjoy a traditional farm lunch, cruise to Pinhão, and return by train. Small-producer visits and generous food make this a strong choice for a full Douro day.

“The visite to the winery and the diner was amazing. However, we were left alone at Regua for the boat trip and it was an underwhelming experience. Not a a lot of explanation during the boat trip. The boat arrive 1/2h late and we missed the train back to Regua. We had to wait 2h for the next train. In theory our ticket was not valide by the ticket inspector was generous and let us go without have to buy another set of tickets. When we book a tour, we expect a fully guided experience. If it’s not the case, we will do it on our own for much less.”
